About Us
Women in the Lead / Femmes de Tête is directed by Women in the
Lead Incorporated, a limited liability, not-for-profit corporation under
the Laws of Canada.
The mission of Women in the Lead is to:
- Assist accomplished, qualified Canadian women in attaining private
and public board appointment;
- Provide an unique source of information for organizations looking
for appropriate women to place on boards;
- Provide timely, educational programs to keep those persons serving
on boards, or aspiring to be, updated as to issues of current importance
to corporate governance.
Towards these goals, Women in the Lead has published four editions of the
directory Women in the Lead Femmes de Tête; the first in 2002, the
second in 2004, the third in 2006, and this fourth, greatly-expanded and
diversified edition which is currently available. All three directories
were assembled, published, and edited by Doreen McKenzie Sanders, C.M.,
Executive Director of the corporation.
In addition, Women in the Lead has presented a number of conferences on
corporate governance, including: "Managing to Become a Corporate Director";
"Becoming a Corporate Director: What You Need to Know"; and "Future
Directions For Corporate Governance". The later two were presented
in partnership with Board Resourcing and Development, Office of Premier
of British Columbia. In alliance with the Institute of Corportate Governance,
Women in the Lead presented "Boards in Times of Crises: Learning from
the Experienced".
